The Second Annual Rockport Film Festival
November 6-8, 2008
AudienceWHAT YOU'LL SEE:
Independent films change the world one person at a time. |
International in scope but local in flavor,
the Rockport Film Festival's mission is to celebrate the power of cinema on the Texas Coast. The festival provides a venue for independent filmmaking to be seen, heard and discussed in one of America's top 10 coastal art colonies. A partnership between Rockport Center for the Arts and the Rockport Rotary Club, both cultural creativity and humanitarian collaboration are covered by the Rockport Film Festival.
In 2007 the Inaugrual Rockport Film Festival received over 150 entries and screened more than 50 films from Texas, across America, as well as Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, and more. Over a dozen filmmakers and industry professionals gathered with local artists and audiences in Rockport for a weekend of rarely seen documentaries, narratives, animated, student and short films. Guest speakers and panel discussion opened up conversations and awareness of why film festivals are such a positive experience for local communities and the film community at large.
2008 promises to be even better.
The calls for entry have been opened, a new logo has been designed, and Bob Hudgins, head of the Texas Film Commission, will be our keynote speaker. Other special events and guests will be confirmed in the weeks to come. Your support of the 2008 Rockport Film Festival will contribute greatly to this partnership between two outstanding local organizations, and will ignite the fall season with a fresh, modern event in a well-known creative community.
